Sports Therapy

Sports therapy is about injury prevention and rehabilitation, enabling increased levels of sporting performance, as well as achieving functional or occupational fitness for all.
Sports therapy includes the assessment of posture, movement, fitness and injuries using the application of accepted principals of training and treatment such as sports massage as well as the most up-to-date manual soft tissue & sports therapy techniques.
For active men and women participating in sport, Sports therapy can make a real difference, whether you are suffering from injury or not, and at any point in your training.
Outside of the sport remedial sports therapy techniques can be applied equally as effectively. Patients suffering from chronic back pain, RSI, postural problems or issues relating to mobility often find hands-on sports therapy techniques a highly effective form of treatment.

AROMATHERAPY
I use essential oils, extracted from plants, in my massage treatments to improve the physical and emotional well being of my clients. Essential oils possess distinctive theraputic properties which can improve health. Essential oils have both a physiological and psychological effect which combine well to promote positive health. The essential oils are mixed with a carrier oil and chosen specifically for each individual client. They are readily absorbed into the skin and have gentle physiological effects. These oils can be used in baths, for inhalations and in massages.

HOLISTIC MASSAGE
A gentle treatment using a combination of various movements or techniques used to manipulat tissues for both local and overall effects and benefits. The movements range from gentle stroking to invigorating friction depending on the desired effect. The term holistic comes from the Greek word "holos" meaning whole. The idea of holistic treatment is that you treat everything about the individual, not just the physical symptoms or problems but also psychological, environment and nutrition, and the effects, both positive and negative, that these can have on the body as a whole. This enables the individual to improve their health themselves, thus re-establishing the body's equilibrium.

REFLEXOLOGY
This therapy treats the whole person by using the feet as "maps" of the body. On the feet there are points or zones which correspond to organs and systems of the body. By pressing on one of these points the corresponding organ in the body is affected. The relationship between a point on the foot and another part of the body is known as a reflex. A trained reflexologist uses their finger or thumb to apply pressure to each of the zones to find the problem areas.
